Molly Mahoney Matthews

Molly Mahoney Matthews has a passion for connecting education and employment. She conducts workshops for anyone looking to jumpstart their career, from new graduates to retirees seeking to re-enter the workforce. Her expertise extends to the long-term unemployed, and anyone who has ever had a bad day at work and wanted to type “Help!” in the search engine. She also advises industry partnerships, and conducts strategic planning, networking events, and programs to increase employer engagement with workforce development. 

Molly is an entrepreneur, business owner, teacher, and speaker. She is president and CEO of, a workforce training company, and author of Unsinkable: Find a Job, Create a Career, Build a Business. Unsinkable tells the story of her early job-search days, the challenges she faced moving up through the ranks, and ultimately the joy and terror of starting her own company. 

In her Job-IQ workshops, Molly uses a hands-on approach based on collaboration and creative thinking. Outside of workshops, Molly works with employer groups to develop career pathways to produce a diverse and highly-skilled workforce. The Job-IQ curriculum teaches both technical skills and soft skills - also known as emotional IQ – to both employers and employees.  

Molly founded Matthews Media Group (MMG) at her dining room table. She grew the full-service public relations and marketing firm to a staff of over 150, with more than $20M in revenue. The Washington Business Journal ranked MMG 4th among firms in Washington, D.C. area. PR Week ranked the company 35 nationwide. In 2000 Omnicom Group, a worldwide multimedia holding company, acquired MMG.

Molly has interviewed and hired hundreds of job candidates, and provided organizational development guidance for businesses, governments and nonprofits. She identifies with the message of the Starfish story (to help just one) and finds her greatest satisfaction helping individuals discover their life's work, one career opportunity at a time.
