Many thanks to those of you who took the time to fill out the Unsinkable blog survey (you can still take it here) -- and to all of you for your loyalty as readers. Here is what I learned about Unsinkable Readers:
Do You Know Who You Are?
About two-thirds of you discovered the blog through a friend or family member. Others reported we met as colleagues - colleagues who over the years became friends, which is wonderful. Some of you are also students I met at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) - new friends from USG are featured in this blog post.
You are either between the ages of 18 and 35, or over 50 -- no one in their 40's reads this blog! My theory is my readers are at the beginning of their careers, or are parents or advisers of someone at the entry-level, and/or at the age for exploring encore careers.
I wasn't surprised to find there are more female than male readers. Over half of you work full time, another 25% are full time students, and the remainder are volunteers (11%), or other (22%.)
About the Blog...and What Surprised Me
The majority of respondents either like the length of the blogs, or agree that variety is the spice of life. Everyone likes the visuals.
Readers reported liking the content about finding a job, creating a career, and building a business. You all surprised me with your strong interest in MOTIVATIONAL content, and most want posts that focus on MINDFULNESS and SPIRITUALITY.
From the comments section, this quote echoed the majority of the reactions: "Often for me this [blog] is a reminder of things I don't think about every day - startles my brain! A good thing!"
Thanks again for giving me your opinions. I'm going to use the information from this survey to make some changes. I'm going to add a Twitter feed, provide career workbook material, and create more inspiring content - writing motivational posts makes my day better, too!
Keep the cards, letters, and comments coming!
