Meet: Ask The Business Lawyer
According to Forbes magazine, Nina is one of the 25 most influential women tweeting about entrepreneurship. Nina offers great information on her blog "Ask the Business Lawyer," where she also shares free downloads, including my favorite, The Drip: 10 Ways Your Small Business Model Can Drain Your Bottom Line. The Drip features pragmatic nuggets such as, "When it comes to intellectual property, you can't protect what you don't own … and you can’t own what you don't protect."
Nina was gracious enough to interview me about my book, Unsinkable: Find a Job, Create a Career, Build a Business. You can hear the interview here. The way she described my first office made me laugh:
The dining room was a sea of Post-It® notes. All over the table. They flowed out into the foyer, onto the cabinets, into the kitchen. Such was the organizational state of Molly Mahoney Matthews’ newly-launched PR business.
When Molly’s sister, Sharon, stopped by for a visit and saw the torrent of little yellow squares threatening to engulf Molly and her home, Sharon said, “Oh no you don’t. You can’t live this way. Get rid of this. You need an assistant. Now.
Unsurprisingly, Nina started out as a stand-up comic. It's funny looking back, even though the good old days weren't funny at the time (some of you reading this know from first-hand experience!)
Whether you are dreaming about a start-up or have questions about your current job, Nina can answer questions like:
- How Should Incorporate My Business?
- Can I Use My City in My Business Name?
- What Permits and Patents Do I Need to Sell My BBQ Sauce?
- Is It Legal to Buy and Resell Items?
- Do I Need a Business License for an Online Store?
